Strange Attractors

SAPostcard2Strange Attractors is a documentary about the technology, science and artistry behind planning and production of a large scale, geometric dance project in the tradition of Busby Berkeley, illustrating the natural occurrence of self-similar, or “fractal” patterns.  In nature, fractals can be found in everything from snowflakes, to clouds, to blood vessels, and broccoli.

In chaos theory, strange attractors are patterns that exist without respect to lines or planes, but are recognizable when looked at in the right perspective.   The goal of this project is to make an organic display of the three dimensional movement of easily identifiable patterns found in nature, told in the framework of the four seasons.
